Mikaela Olsen is an Oncology and Hematology Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. She manages staff and patient education for inpatient oncology and new staff education, orientation, and mentoring.  She also provides consultation throughout the oncology center for hematologic malignancies, chemotherapy and biotherapy, safe administration, side effect management, venous access device care, and supportive care for oncology patients. Olsen is the manager of the peripherally inserted central line catheter (PICC) team for the department of oncology and the co-chair of the Johns Hopkins Hospital Venous Access Device Committee.

Olsen has presented nationally on the topic of hazardous handling and has authored or co-authored several publications. She is an instructor for the ONS Hazardous Handling online course and a member of ONS, the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, the Association for Vascular Access, and the Infusion Nurses Society.

She received her Master of Science degree with special emphasis in oncologic nursing from the University of California at San Francisco.
