Join the members of the Home Care/Palliative Care and Pain Management special interest groups for a presentation on pain management. Presenters will draw from past survey responses and data from the 2013 Congress to share current attitudes toward pain management. They'll cover essential pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic principles, reviewing topics such as dosing, duration of analgesics, and dependence and tolerance. You'll learn how factors like ageism and the cultural and spiritual aspects of care influence pain management, and what educational initiatives exist to address gaps in pain management knowledge.

ONS Health Policy Director Alec Stone will also present "Conversations Matter."

1. Describe the knowledge and attitudes of nurses caring for individuals with cancer pain.
2. Identify education topics that target gaps in understanding of basic pain management principles.
3. Describe three pharmacologic and three nonpharmacologic principles of pain management.
