The Pivotal Role of the Oncology Nurse in Breakthrough Cancer Pain: Patient Advocacy, Assessment, and Management

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

We’ve all heard about breakthrough cancer pain (BTCP): those uncontrolled and intense flares of pain with a sudden onset which can be debilitating for patients and a challenge to treat. Yet despite its high prevalence and significant impact on patients, pain assessments continue to be inconsistent in accurately recognizing BTCP. Improving diagnosis of BTCP may result in more optimal pain management.

At the conclusion of this session, attendees will be able to

  • Define characteristics of BTCP·
  • Understand the impact of BTCP on the patient with cancer.
  • Implement better techniques to assess BTCP using tools and communication methods
  • Advocate for patients with BTCP.

This program was developed in collaboration with ONS:Edge and is sponsored by INSYS Therapeutics. REGISTER HERE.
