Join us for a three-part podium session that explores ways to improve patient communication and advocacy. 

  • Randy Jones will present "Comparison of the Use of a Decision Aid for Patients Diagnosed With Prostate Cancer Between Those With Mid-Level and Advanced Stage Disease." He'll share the results of a mixed methods study that evaluated how men made informed, shared decisions about treatments affecting quality of life.  
  • Georgia Narsavage will present "Pilot: Home Telemonitoring Supports Self-Management for Patients With Lung Cancer." She'll describe an NCI-funded study that measured the impact of telemonitors on patient quality of life in Applachian West Virginia, informing patient education and nurse coaching.
  • Izumi Kohara will present "Structure of the Care for Patients Provided by Clinical Trials Nurses Involved in Oncology Clinical Trials." She'll discuss her research to elucidate the role of the clinical trials nurse (CTN), explaining the structures by which CTNs protect the rights and safety of patients and maintain their quality of life.
